Believed to have originated in France, Chenille is the french word for “caterpillar”, whose fur the yarn resembles.

Chenille yarn is manufactured by placing short lengths of yarn, between two core yarns & twisting together – as the fibres catch the light differently they appear different in one direction compared to another.
